Hi everyone,
Here is The FINAL TERM's assignement.
Basically the same as last week but with more action and or more characters.
Create a Film, TV Show, or Cinematic Key Frame : portraying a group of characters in an intense and dynamic action scene. In Cinematic format, go for a simple arrangement.
You know the drill:
1-Thursday 15th of June. At noon. Last class.
2-Cinematic Format (16/9 or wider)
3-You can send me a WIP, black and white or color during the week, i will do my best to reply.
4-Check movie still examples.
5-Style and Technic? Your own.
6-Add the classic top and bottom video black bands, to make it more believable.
7-Why not use previously designed characters ? For your posters or other homeworks or classes. So you do not have to design much.
For this one, push it as far as you can. As finished as you can depending on your stylistic choices.
Ok so here are some examples of compositions :
Some have tons of guys, some just two but are super dynamic or might have a very detailed background. So ...know your strengths and weaknesses.... that means that if you suck at environments. Dont be a fool and do a crazy background. And vice versa.
But if you only give me 2 guys fighting, the action has to be amazing and the background has to be super cool and the render super pushed. More than usual.
You could also have a clam action ready pose but tons of characters.
The easiest stuff to find is this superhero movie art, but obviously these are examples. Do the subjects you like.
One last thing, i was like many of you, i did not like to start my homework in class, i just wanted to do it at home. But the issue is that for at least half of the class, i get some very weak sketches days and days later after the class. And i wonder...but these skecthes could have easly been done in class and i could have given them feedback then and there.... but maybe 4 days after class you are posting some stuff that is way to rough and way to weak ...way too late. So make an effort in the 8th and 9th weeks, push your final as far as you can. And work in class as well really hard.
UPDATED:
Expectations for next week ( half way the Final Term):
I consider this obvious, you know all this by now, and this is me babying you and handholding you which is in my opinion not helpful for you. But i feel that most of you guys still behave like students instead of aspiring professionals or juniors.
So that said, here is what you should have for next week :
-Your ref sheet research for every aspect of your sketch. Design, composition, storytelling, lighting, and colors.
-6 black and white or color sketches ( up to you). Not shitty ones because the crappy shitty ones should have been done in class or should have been posted this weekend at the latest, for me to review. So your wip sketches have to be reviewed already, solid and have to resolve: composition, design and values( lighting). At the end of the next class you should be ready to paint, color and polish. If you did well, you should be painting and coloring in class next week.
-Lines should be fairly clear not all scraggly and wonky, that means your drawing or blockin has to be good. Composition should be approved. Lighting scenario and values, clear and understandable. That means it should be very easy to understand where the lights are coming from. Design should be solved, so you do not have to paint and design at the same time.
-Storytelling, drama and intensity are important, dont give me some dude walking around or whatever. I want to see that you thought hard about your idea and tried different thumbnails, not the same angle or background everywhere. Its obvious.
All of you will be working next class on your final term image. No exceptions, nobody slacking around with no laptop. Clear?
All of this will be taken into account and graded. You don't want that 20 in productivity ? You know what to do.
